A FORMER footballer who turned drug dealer to pay gambling debts was jailed for four years yesterday.
Gerry Farrell, 30, whose clubs include Dunfermline, Airdrie and Partick Thistle, was threatened with a bullet sent to his home over his £77,000 debts.
So he agreed to store cocaine worth £161,000 for the moneylenders, the High Court in Edinburgh was told.
John Scott, defending, said Farrell, from Robroyston, Glasgow, had developed a gambling problem because he had too much time and money on his hands during his football career.
