The 10th Annual Canadian Gaming Summit continues in Vancouver with word many Canadians support gambling as just another form of entertainment.
Bill Rutsey, the President of the Canadian Gaming Association, says more than half of the money raised by the 14 billion dollar industry goes to charitable causes and government programs, "That is the way the industry works. Is the argument being made that wouldn't you much rather have it be something that's regulated by the government as opposed to some guy who wants to break your knee-caps in Vegas? I wouldn't put it quite like that, but you're right, I mean, I think that's, you know, the most important element of the gaming industry particularly, our regulations, safety and security of the premises, integrity in the games and fairness in the odds of protection for the players."
Rutsey adds more than 50-thousand people work in Canada's gaming industry.
Detailed results of a poll on public attitudes and opinions towards gaming in Canada will be released later today at the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre.
