Rumours that Rank will soon be a standalone betting and gaming company gained ground this week amid market chatter suggesting the company was close to a sale of its Deluxe film business.
Rank owns the land-based Mecca bingo hall chain alongside its online gaming interests which include Blue Square and Hard Rock Casino. Alongside its own online operations, William Hill owns over 2,000 betting shops in the UK.
Rumours regarding a sale come in the same week it was reported that talks have taken place between Rank and William Hill regarding a possible merger of the two firms. The talks are said to have failed with both parties suggesting there are no future plans. However, analysts suggest that a possible tie-up remains a possibility.
