Sportsbook and gaming operator Victor Chandler has just announced the launch of a dedicated Asian betting site, vcbet88.com.
The China-focused website is the first stage of a marketing and technology agreement the Gibraltar-based operator has reached with Macau-based marketing agency Macom. The site is in traditional and simplified Chinese.
Commenting on the deal Ian Dunning, Victor Chandler operations director, said: “This is a great opportunity to capitalise on the strength of our two businesses with a view to providing one of the strongest offerings in the Chinese and Asian marketplace. The region is of major interest to Victor Chandler and we believe football with Asian handicap will generate a lot of business on the sports betting side.”
Victor Chandler will look to use its bookmaking expertise, allied to its poker and casino products to increase its online market share, while Macom will leverage its knowledge of the region to provide marketing know-how and guidance to satisfy the demands of local punters and gamblers.
“The site has been developed for Chinese people by Chinese people and we think this makes it the best Chinese site out there. It’s different form our other sites as it is more focused on placing wagers, users can place bets direct on the home page with price movements visible from there, which is very important for Asian handicap,” Dunning said.
Victor Chandler also has great hopes for its live dealer baccarat, a very important concept for Asian gamblers, who tend to distrust random number generators.
“We’re confident the site will be a big part of our business and the Chinese market, both legal and illegal, is huge. We don’t think ourselves or any other Western bookmaker has got it 100% right in the past but we believe we’re well down the road to doing that,” Dunning added.
Jason Chan, Macom chief executive, said: “We are very excited to be able to combine our local knowledge with one of the most respected betting brands in Asia.”
