Costa Rica-based sportsbook BetUS has signed a celebrity endorsement deal with former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura.
The ex-professional wrestler will act as the spokesman for BetUS on a range of offline marketing activities.
Ventura is not the first celebrity to endorse a US-facing sportsbook, with TV presenter and model Brook Burke acting as the public face of sportsbook.com.
But the use of a politician who has previously backed calls for legalised sports betting is a major coup for BetUS.
“Governor Ventura has always championed personal choice and personal responsibility,” Mike Foreman, BetUS.com spokesperson, said.
“He remains a staunch supporter of our right to engage in online gaming.”
Ventura will be used in radio spots; as well as online, print and outdoor advertising;
