Costa Rica-based GCS, the owner of sportsbooks Betcom and mybookie, has launched Nine.com, aimed at taking on Bodog for the US recreational market.
The new site is intended to be the firm’s flagship brand, and will feature original entertainment content alongside the betting and gaming products.
“By focusing on one super brand, we will provide our clients more exciting and valuable content,“ Robert Evans, president of Nine.com, said.
The site is similar in tone to Bodog, with columns from the sportsbooks executives and lifestyle content. And there is heavy emphasis on cross selling the firm’s gaming products to sports betting customers.
“This industry is all about entertainment and variety,” Evans said.
“While many of our clients mostly wager on football or basketball, we want everyone to have fun playing some of our other cool games,” he added.
GCS made headlines earlier this year when it announced its mybookie.com website would feature in the upcoming poker film Lucky You.
The star of the film is believed to win his stake money for a poker tournament by gambling on mybookie.com.
