Louisiana State Police have arrested three men they claim ran an illegal internet gambling website after a month-long investigation.
One of the arrested, Nicholas Jenkins of Seattle, Washington, is accused of owning and operating the website Betcha.com, which allowed people to electronically place wagers and charged a fee for doing so depending on the amount bet. These actions violate Louisiana state law. The other two men arrested were Peter Abrahamsen and Josie Imlay, who both served technical positions with the website.
The three men arrested are being held in Seattle until extradition would send them back to Louisiana to face charges. If convicted they could face up to five years in prison and $20,000 in fines. Investigators have stated they expect more arrests to be made.
